A 45-year-old woman had to be rescued from a cellar in one of Adelaide’s wealthiest suburbs on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the circa 1900 home on Gilbert St at Gilberton about 7.30am on Sunday after the woman fell.

An SA ambulance spokeswoman said it would be a “difficult extrication”, which lasted about an hour.

The woman was rescued before 9am and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Her injuries are unknown but she remains in a stable condition.
