Radio star Ali Clarke will make an incredible return to the airwaves this week.

The Mix 102.3 breakfast presenter, who is battling breast cancer, has revealed she will make her full-time comeback to the program on Wednesday – less than three weeks after having a mastectomy.

Clarke made a guest appearance on Tuesday’s Max and Ali in the Morning show, featuring Max Burford and fill-in Hayley Pearson, to share the amazing news.

“It’s time for me to get out in the real world,” said Clarke, 47, who admitted she was looking forward to getting out of the house.

“I’m so sick of it, the Olympics are over, I’ve exhausted Netflix’s Vikings series.

“I’ll be very glad to be here just after 6am tomorrow.”

Mother-of-three Clarke said she missed being on-air and was now ready to return to work in the studio despite only having surgery on July 26.

“For me, and this isn’t a measure for anybody else going through this … no matter what you’re going through … we’ve got to lay off and understand that it’s really individual for every single person,” she said.

Former SAFM and Nova 919 breakfast presenter Pearson has been keeping Clarke’s seat warm on the brekkie show for the last two weeks.

On July 23, an emotional Clarke revealed on the program that she had been diagnosed with the disease and would be taking a break from the show.

“We’ve got this really, really early,” she said.

A week later, she provided an update for listeners, confirming the surgery went “amazingly” well.

“So much so, that I’m actually home now,” Clarke said.

“All the stuff they’ve taken out of you has to go and get examined. So I’ve got a few more days of that and then, once we know, that will determine what happens next – if it’s more treatment, or if I can then say: ‘Hey, I’ve beaten it’ and then we get on getting better.”

She has since helped launch Mix 102.3’s national breast check day, which will be on the first of every month.

The campaign reminds listeners to check their breasts with the cheeky tagline, “Have you felt yours lately?”.

Clarke also said: “We are encouraging everyone to feel their boobs or get friendly with their breasts on the first of every month.

“Because there isn’t a cure for breast cancer it is all about early prevention.”
