Man, 73, dies in horror workplace incident at Koonunga, north of Nuriootpa in the Barossa

A man has died in a horror workplace incident in the Barossa on Friday morning, despite the efforts of SA Ambulance crews.

A man has died in a horror workplace accident at Koonunga, north of Nuriootpa, on Friday.

Emergency services responded to calls of a “road crash rescue” event at the worksite, in the Barossa region, involving a 73-year-old man about 8.30am.

He died at the scene and has yet to be formally identified by police.

The Advertiser sighted at least four police cars in a paddock on Watunga Rd.

An attempt was made to tow a yellow tractor from the property, but it was not successful.

Police and SafeWork SA will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Police are preparing a report for the Coroner.

SafeWork SA have been contacted for comment.

The accident comes just weeks after a separate fatal workplace incident at Elizabeth South last month.

Masses of emergency services rushed to the old Holden factory on the Philip Highway at Elizabeth South after reports a man had become trapped in machinery on Friday, May 20.

Ashley Koch from Para Hills died at the scene, leaving behind his wife and two children.
