Four men charged after violent Gulfview Heights home invasion in court

Men arrested by heavily-armed police after a person was shot during a terrifying home invasion in Adelaide’s north have appeared in court.

Four men accused of participating in a daylight home invasion in which a person was shot at Gulfview Heights will spend at least one more week in custody after a court deferred a hearing into allegations against them.

Jyrell Davey, 19, Lachlan Anthony Charles Pike-Wills, 22, Jayden John Sansbury, 24, and Arshaan Ahmad Khan, 32, all appeared from the Elizabeth Magistrates Court cells late on Monday afternoon.

Counsel for Mr Sansbury, of Prospect, told the court he had not yet had a moment to take instructions from his client, nor consider the allegations against him, and asked His Honour to adjourn the matter for a few days.

Magistrate Rodney Oates heard briefly from police prosecution that all four men were prescribed applicants – and had a presumption against the release on bail – and all forms of bail were opposed.

Mr Oates said he would order a home detention and bail inquiry report for Mr Sansbury, and he would appear before court again next week.

Counsel for Mr Khan and Mr Davey made no application for bail, however Mr Oates also ordered reports returnable next week as well.

Mr Pike-Wills was also granted the reports, however Mr Oates warned each man it did not guarantee bail, because the court was yet to hear the allegations against them.

The men were arrested after emergency services were alerted to a serious incident on Thursday about 4.45pm in a Brabham Crescent home where a group of people entered a home and shot a person in the leg.

One of the occupants received non-life-threatening injury as a result of the shooting.

The Advertiser understands the victim has since been discharged from the Royal Adelaide Hospital after surgery and is now at home.

Following investigations, Northern District CIB and STAR Group officers tracked the suspects and arrested three men at Hendon on Friday night. They were charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated cause harm and firearm offences.

A search of the property allegedly turned up a firearm, which was seized.

A fourth suspect was arrested shortly after by police at Noarlunga Downs.

All four men will return to court next week.
