WHAT HAPPENED IN GULFVIEW HEIGHTS?

Emergency services were alerted to a serious incident on Thursday, January 30, at 4.45pm in a Brabham Crescent home where a group of people entered a home and an occupant suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

The Advertiser understands the victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his thigh and has since been discharged from the Royal Adelaide Hospital after surgery.

The alleged shooters fled the scene prior to police arrival, but four men were arrested shortly after.

During court proceedings, police alleged four men entered the home and threatened the occupant with a sawn-off .22 calibre rifle.

It was alleged the man fled into a separate room, and the four accused then hit a door repeatedly with hammers before firing a shot through it, striking the victim in the leg.

The court heard the four men then fled the scene after allegedly stealing a variety of the occupant’s personal property.

WHO WAS ARRESTED FOR THE GULFVIEW HEIGHTS SHOOTING?

Four men were arrested after detectives and STAR Group officers tracked suspects in the aftermath of the shooting.

Lachlan Pike-Wills, 22, Jyrell Davey, 19, of Narrung, Jayden John Sansbury, 24, of Prospect were located at a Hendon property, where a sawn-off .22 calibre rifle and compatible ammo was allegedly located inside a vehicle.

The rifle was allegedly stolen from its lawful owner in December 2024.

The fourth man, Arshaan Ahmad Khan, 32, of Lonsdale, was arrested a short time later at Noarlunga Downs.

The men were all charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass in a place of residence, aggravated dishonestly taking property, aggravated causing serious harm with intent and possessing a firearm without licence.

WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THE FOUR ALLEGED SHOOTERS FACED COURT?

Mr Davey, Mr Sansbury and Mr Khan did not apply for bail, and remain in custody until their next court appearance.

Mr Pike-Wills, of Pooraka, applied for bail in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on February 14.

Counsel for Mr Pike-Wills told the court he has limited criminal history, and had previously been compliant with home detention bail.

They further submitted he would be unable to contact his co-accused as they had been remanded in custody.

Defence counsel said their client had been in custody for 14 days since his arrest – his longest stint on record – and he had “not enjoyed” the experience.

The court heard Mr Pike-Wills would be living with his mother if released, whose home had been deemed suitable by Corrections.

Magistrate Rodney Oates found special circumstances had been made and released Mr Pike-Wills on home detention bail.

No man has entered a plea to the charges.

HOW HAS THE COMMUNITY RESPONDED TO THE GULFVIEW SHOOTING?

Three weeks following the shooting, Advertiser journalists returned to Brabham Crescent to speak to neighbours about their reactions to the shooting.

All residents declined to be identified.

Another neighbour said the home was well known to residents but the residents were “friendly”.

They were concerned about syringes found in neighbouring gardens.

On the day after the shooting, neighbours told The Advertiser the police presence at the scene had raised alarm, as concerns about the “characters” in the neighbourhood.

Neighbour Ben Colangelo said the house was always busy with people “coming and going”.

“I’m not really surprised about it to be honest,” he said.

“Hopefully it comes to an end because I’m kind of just sick of seeing cops everywhere and just people coming and going.

“It’s just not really safe for other people around, especially if there’s shots being fired.”

Mr Colangelo said he was coming home from work when he pulled into the street to find police everywhere.

Resident Nick – who did not want his surname used – said he saw different people visit the home that was the subject of the attack.

“Those people have been living here for about 10-15 years,” Nick said.

However, Nick said he tried to stay out of “their business” in the hope they would not bother him.

WHAT IS NEXT FOR THE ALLEGED GULFVIEW SHOOTERS?

All four men will appear in court again in March, where the Director of Public Prosecution will determine which charges against them will proceed.
