SA Police: What to do at a crash scene

A 30-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a car while riding his scooter in Port Adelaide, as police arrest a southern suburbs driver.

The Alberton man was at the intersection of Grand Junction Rd and Commercial Rd about 6.15pm on Monday when he was struck by a Hyundai sedan.

He sustained serious life-threatening injuries.

A 29-year-old Semaphore South woman driving the Hyundai was not injured.

She was arrested by major crash officers on the same day and charged with causing serious harm by careless use of a vehicle and instantly lost her licence.

She will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on April 1.

Traffic restrictions were in place for several hours after the incident, while major crash investigators examined the scene.

The intersection and eastbound lanes on Grand Junction Rd were cleared just after midnight.

Anyone who witnessed the crash and is yet to speak to police is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

This is the second motor scooter crash in Port Adelaide in less than a year, with a 43-year-old woman on a scooter hit by a car in July.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Dale St and Church St, and the scooter rider was not seriously injured.
