West Hobart man cops $963 fine after speeding at 172km/h on the Midland Highway

A West Hobart man has copped a huge fine and had his licence disqualified after he was caught driving more than 60km/h over the limit.

A WEST Hobart man has copped a huge speeding fine after he was nabbed doing more than 60km/h over the limit on the Midland Highway.

Tasmania Police said the 21-year-old was travelling south at Powranna when he was clocked at 172km/h on Sunday afternoon.

He was issued a $963 infringement notice, six demerit points and a mandatory four-month licence disqualification.

His vehicle, a black 2003 Subaru WRX Impressa, was clamped by police for 28 days.
