Two people charged after Devonport evade as police search for third person

Two people have been charged and police are continuing to search for a third person after an alleged police evade in Tasmania’s North-West.

TWO people have been charged and police are continuing to search for a third person after an alleged police evade in Devonport on Tuesday afternoon.

Police allege the driver of a silver Nissan Qashqai failed to stop when instructed, and the vehicle was found abandoned at Forth a short time later, where the pair were arrested.

Police are continuing to search for the third person allegedly in the vehicle, Barry Raymond Allen, who they said fled the scene on foot.

The two people arrested at Forth were a 21-year-old woman, who has been charged with possessing stolen property and stealing, and a 40-year-old man, who has been charged with possessing stolen property.

Anyone who saw the Nissan or who has dashcam footage of it travelling between Devonport and Forth on Tuesday about 3pm can contact Devonport CIB on 131 444.
