AN alleged fraud case has been adjourned yet again with no hearing date set more than a year since the matter first appeared in court.

Renee Ferguson, 45, of Howrah, has previously pleaded not guilty in the Hobart Magistrates Court to one count of stealing and two counts of dishonestly acquiring a financial advantage.

It is alleged Ms Ferguson stole $1942 in cash from Cricket Tasmania, and obtained by means of deception a Hobart Hurricanes family membership, worth $339.

It is also alleged Ms Ferguson obtained by means of deception a Cricket Tasmania junior and platinum membership, worth $705.

The case has been adjourned many times since it first went to court in July last year and Ms Ferguson has continually not appeared. She has provided the court with medical certificates.

In June, the prosecutor told the court that police had decided further investigation was needed in relation to allegations of “$11,000-$13,000 worth of fraudulent … conduct”.

The court heard this morning the investigation was ongoing and there was insufficient evidence to lay the further charges.

Having plead not guilty, the next step in Ms Ferguson’s case would be to set a date for a hearing for the prosecution to present its evidence, but no date has been set as yet.

Chief Magistrate Catherine Geason adjourned the case until September 20.
