Road spikes used to stop 22-year-old driver who allegedly evaded police

A 22-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly evading police and driving dangerously before road spikes were used to stop his vehicle.

A 22-YEAR-OLD man accused of evading police and driving dangerously on the Eastern Shore has been caught after road spikes were deployed in Lindisfarne.

The driver of the white Holden Commodore first allegedly evaded police on the Domain Highway at Cornelian Bay about 9.30am on Wednesday.

Sergeant Greg Rogers said the accused man then committed numerous traffic offences as he travelled through Lindisfarne, Rosny, Mornington and Warrane.

“Road spikes were successfully deployed in Lindisfarne and the vehicle came to a stop nearby after crashing into a parked vehicle,” Sergeant Rogers said.

“A 22-year-old man was located hiding from police near the scene of the crash.

“He was arrested and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.”

Sergeant Rogers said police wish to speak with anyone who may have seen the vehicle while it was being driven.
