POLICE are seeking public assistance to track down a man who presented at the Launceston General Hospital suffering several stab wounds to his torso.

The 38-year-old attended the hospital about 2.30am this morning but police were unable to speak to the man about what had occurred.

Launceston criminal investigation branch are interested in hearing from anyone who witnessed a disturbance or saw a man matching the patient’s description in the Wellington Street and CBD areas between about 9.30pm on Friday and about 2.30am Saturday.

He has brown hair, is about 180cm tall and was wearing blue jeans and a white Unit T-shirt with black writing at the time.
