POLICE are calling for public sightings of a motorbike allegedly used in the armed robbery of a Cold Rock Ice Creamery store on Charles St in Launceston on Saturday night.

Police say a man entered the store with a small hatchet at 9.25pm and demanded money from staff members.

It was alleged the man then jumped the counter, assaulted a 14-year-old male staff member, took cash from the till and then fled the scene on a motorcycle.

The motorcycle was captured on CCTV being ridden by someone with a hood pulled over their helmet and a pillion passenger.

The police investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid.
