Police search Risdon Vale area for second allegedly armed man

Police are searching for a second man following an alleged armed robbery in the Risdon Vale area.

UPDATED: A MAN accused of demanding money from a Risdon Vale resident at gunpoint was last night being questioned by police, while the search continued for a second suspect.

Tasmania Police said the two men entered the property of a person who was known to them on Sugarloaf Road armed with a firearm about 1pm yesterday.

The men reportedly fled the scene on a white trail bike after stealing a “small amount” of money.

A 27-year-old Risdon Vale man was taken into custody following a police search of the Risdon Vale area, including an air search by members in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

A 24-year-old Risdon Vale man, who police believe was the second man involved in the aggravated armed robbery, last night remained on the run.

Police would like to speak to anyone with information in relation to the incident, the location of the trail bike, or the man involved who has not yet been located.

EARLIER: POLICE in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter are searching for a man allegedly armed with a gun in the Risdon Vale area.

The man was reportedly last seen travelling on a white trail bike, wearing a white helmet, black and white check shirt, and grey pants.

Tasmania Police said they would like to speak to the man in relation to “an incident in Risdon Vale this afternoon when he was allegedly armed with a firearm”.

Anyone who has seen the white trail bike or the male rider is asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
