THE former CEO of Meals on Wheels Tasmania has been charged after he allegedly swindled cash from the organisation.
Sean Burk, 60, was arrested on warrant and charged with dishonestly acquiring a financial advantage on July 23.
“In 2017, police received a complaint from Meals on Wheels Tasmania regarding alleged frauds committed against their organisation by the former chief executive officer,” Detective Acting Sergeant Tim Reid said yesterday.
“An investigation conducted by Tasmania Police’s fraud and e-crime unit with the assistance of Meals on Wheels staff has determined that Meals on Wheels had been defrauded of a quantity of money.”
Tasmania Police would not say how much cash was allegedly taken.
Mr Burk, of Seven Mile Beach, was bailed to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court on September 10.
