TEXT messages from a teenage boy accused of raping and sexually assaulting a teenage girl have been read to a Supreme Court jury in Hobart.

The now 18-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has pleaded guilty to one count of rape, not guilty to three counts of rape alleged to have occurred after the first count, and not guilty to two counts of indecent assault, also alleged to have occurred after the first count of rape.

It is alleged the crimes were committed in the early hours of February 17 last year when the alleged victim was at a sleepover with a group of college friends.

Crown prosecutor Emma Quarmby on Wednesday read a transcript of a text message conversation between the accused and one of the group of friends. One of them read “I don’t know what’s happening, I’m just going to lay low for a while.”

The accused man’s lawyer, Andrei Slicer, previously told the jury that while his client admitted the first count of rape, he disputed the further five charges.

The trial, before Chief Justice Alan Blow, continues.
