A VICTORIAN man accused of killing a seven-year-old Tasmanian boy has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter.
Joshua George Hector Clark, 36, of Thomastown, was arrested in Victoria in September and extradited to Tasmania but was bailed to appear on another date.
He appeared briefly via video link before Magistrate Sam Mollard in the Hobart Magistrates court this morning.
Defence lawyer Philippa Willshire told the court Mr Clark would be pleading not guilty to the charge.
In September, Tasmania Police Detective Inspector Craig Joel said the charge related to the death of seven-year-old boy at Mt Lloyd on August 22, 2015.
“Police allege the 36-year-old man cut down a tree in circumstances that were dangerous and caused the death of the seven-year-old boy, who was seated in a car,” Insp Joel said.
“The man was arrested on warrant in Victoria on 18 September 2018 by Victoria Police detectives and thereafter transferred to the custody of Glenorchy CIB detectives.”
Mr Mollard ordered Mr Clark reappear in the Supreme Court on February 4 next year.
