AN Eastern Shore woman could face further charges of defrauding Cricket Tasmania, a court has heard.

Renee Ferguson, 45, of Howrah, has pleaded not guilty to one count of stealing and two counts of dishonestly acquiring a financial advantage.

The case has been adjourned several times since it first went to the Hobart Magistrates Court in July last year and Ms Ferguson has continually not appeared. She has provided the court with medical certificates.

Ms Ferguson’s lawyer Kim Baumeler today told the court she had asked the prosecution if the case would be proceeded with and she found out this morning there could be further charges.

The prosecutor told the court police officers had reviewed the file and decided further investigation was needed in relation to allegations of “$11,000-$13,000 worth of fraudulent … conduct”.

The original charges allege Ms Ferguson, between September 29 and November 23, 2017, stole $1942 in cash from Cricket Tasmania, and obtained by means of deception a Hobart Hurricanes family membership, worth $339, without paying for it.

It is also alleged Ms Ferguson obtained by means of deception a Cricket Tasmania junior and platinum membership, worth $705, without paying for it.

Chief Magistrate Catherine Geason adjourned the case until August 20 to give prosecutors time to determine what further charges might be laid.

Ms Ferguson’s bail was continued.
