FOUR teens are facing a string of stealing and burglary charges after they allegedly targeted several cars in Devonport.
The teens, aged between 14 and 17, are expected to appear before the Youth Justice Court at a later date on charges including burglary, stealing, attempted burglary, attempted motor vehicle stealing, unlawful use of a vehicle and unlawfully possess a dangerous article in a public place.
The charges came as part of a police investigation after the teenagers were seen trying to open the doors of several cars parked around Gunn, Tasman and Forbes streets.
Detective Acting Inspector Martin Parker said police were keen to speak to any victims of motor vehicle burglary or damage in the area that have not already come forward.
“In particular, police would like to speak to the owners of a white Ford Ranger in Forbes St and a red Holden Astra and white Holden Commodore at the southern end of Gunn St,” he said.
He reminded drivers to park cars in a driveway or well-lit area at night, lock the doors, put up windows and hide valuables. Suspicious behaviour can be reported to Tasmanian Police on 131 444 or anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestopperstas.com.au
