THE brutal killer of Hobart mother of two Jodi Eaton will appear in court to appeal against his life sentence today.
Darren Michael Dobson, 39, was sentenced to life with a non-parole period of 15 years for the strangling death on February 1, 2014, in a house at Bridgewater.
MORE: DOBSON SENTENCED OVER MURDER
Dobson, a serial domestic violence abuser, was on bail and subject to a suspended sentence for attacking women when he killed Ms Eaton.
Dobson had only met the 28-year-old at a gathering in the hours leading up to the murder.
Ms Eaton’s body was found wrapped in a blanket and a plastic pool liner on a property at Pelham 19 days later.
In sentencing Dobson, in September last year, Chief Justice Alan Bow said the killing was in “the worst category of murder” because of Dobson’s tendency to abuse women and his efforts to hide Ms Eaton’s body.
The killer, who pleaded guilty to the crime, is appealing against the sentence on the basis it is “manifestly excessive”.
