REVEALED: Cricket Far North’s second grade team of the month for November

November had plenty of action on the cricket field, with players stepping up to fill the shoes of the representative players in the Cricket Far North competition. FIND OUT who made the team of the month with some surprise selections >>>

November had plenty of action on the cricket field, with players stepping up to fill the shoes of the representative players in the Cricket Far North competition.

Cricket Far North’s prime grade on Sunday features many players from around the competition pushing for a top-tier spot.

1. Matthew Foy – Muddies – 108 runs off 125 balls at 35 ave – Highest score: 103

Foy had a big October and continued it in the opening weekend for November with a massive 103 off 109 balls to get the Muddies over the line.

2. Bhupinder Singh – Norths Spicy Bite – 144 runs off 140 balls at 72 ave – Highest score: 108

Norths opening bat had a strong November with just a couple of games played which included the highest score of the month with 108.

3. Dayne Margiotta – Rovers – 84 runs off 123 balls at 42 ave – Highest score: 72*

The young gun showed just how good he is when he made a brilliant 72 not out in a run chase in November.

4. Ranvir Singh Basra – Mulgrave Punjabi – 133 runs off 181 balls at 44.33 ave – Highest score: 97

Singh Basra fell just three runs short of being the third person to make a hundred in November, the Mulgrave middle order bat didn’t take any prisoners in his 97.

5. Amrit Gill – Mulgrave Punjabi – 117 runs off 121 balls at 29.25 ave – Highest score: 49

One of four Mulgrave Punjabi players who had a strong November with the bat, didn’t quite get to the half century but a consistent month and will be looking to back it up in December.

6. Amanjot Singh – Mulgrave Punjabi – 107 runs off 101 balls at 35.66 ave – Highest score: 55

Another Punjabi player who had a strong month, from just three innings which included 55 from 47 balls.

7. Archie Ferguson – Rovers – 6 wickets for 52 runs off 16 overs at 8.66 ave – Best bowling: 3-19

Ferguson doesn’t normally bat this low but had a great month with the ball, a young gun who is coming through the ranks with both bat and ball.

8. Vicky Lefty – Mulgrave Punjabi – 8 wickets for 38 runs off 18.1 overs at 4.75 ave – Best bowling: 3-15

The experienced left arm spinner, Lefty was the leading wicket taker for the whole month of November in second grade.

9. Joshua Kohn – Barron River – 5 wickets for 50 runs off 14.3 overs at 10 ave – Best bowling: 3-29

Barron Rivers was the go to bowler Joshua Kohn turned out to be, picking up a wicket every 17.4 balls for the month of November.

10. Adrian Bannerman – Muddies – 5 wickets for 17 runs off 7.4 overs at 3.4 ave – Best bowling: 3-13

The experience of Bannerman with the new players coming to the club was showcased with the ball in November, going at an average of just 3.4 – incredible.

11. Harvey Rees – Mulgrave – 6 wickets for 88 runs off 18.1 overs at 14.66 – Best bowling: 4-41

The young Harvey Rees has a big future if his November is anything to go by, not just with the ball but showed he can handle himself with the bat as well at times.

Only the one batsman made it to triple figures, which came on the last Saturday of November while some big name players bullied the bowling line ups.

1. Aidan Firman – Norths – 182 runs off 107 balls at 182 ave – Highest score: 116

Firman blasted 116 from 75 balls on November 30, guiding his side to a massive victory and taking him to the leading run scorer.

2. Matt Wilkins – Mulgrave – 122 runs off 165 balls at 122 ave – Highest score: 93

In the grand final replay, Wilkins looked in complete control against the Rovers pace attack of King, McGinty and Edwards, working towards a 93 from 112 balls.

3. Angus Warnock – Norths – 101 runs off 83 balls at 50.5 – Highest score: 64

Warnock had been building over a few weeks before bringing up his first 50 of the season in what was a match winning performance against Rovers in round 5.

4. Thomas Boorman – Atherton – 163 runs off 158 balls at 54.33 – Highest score: 74

A consistent month for Boorman with a 74 and a 60 before finishing off the month with 29 against Mulgrave.

5. Jake Roach – Mulgrave – 131 runs off 115 balls at 65.5 – Highest score: 75

Just the two games played for Mulgrave over November thanks to representative call up but Roach continues to show why he is one of the most dominant cricketers in the competition.

6. Braydn Croft – Barron River – 101 runs off 150 balls at 33.66 – Highest score 67

Croft got a start in the 13 run loss to Atherton with 34, similar to other batters around him but was the best bat when it came to taking on Mulgrave with 67 from 91 as wickets fell around him.

7. Brenton Edwards – Rovers – 5 wickets for 58 runs at 11.6 ave – Best bowling: 3-25

Big ‘Eddy’ picked up five wickets in November and is our first all-rounder. Edwards best figures came against rivals Norths in round five.

8. Elliot Lord – Norths – 6 wickets for 65 runs at 10.83 ave – Best bowling: 4-30

The left arm orthodox was a great inclusion for Norths bowling attack in November, picking up six wickets with a strike rate of 19.

9. William Robertson – Mulgrave – 6 wickets for 66 runs at 11 ave – Best bowling: 3-23

Another spinning doing the damage, this time for Mulgrave with Robertson picking up a wicket at a strike rate of 17.66.

10. Robert Thresher – Rovers – 7 wickets for 58 runs at 8.28 – Best bowling: 3-2

Thresher might not be the big named player with the ball like King, Edwards or McGinty but the right arm pace bowler did the damage with the ball in November.

11. Aidan Beach – Mulgrave – 7 wickets for 49 runs at 7 ave – Best bowling: 2-11

The young Aidan Beach spun his way through batting line ups to take the equal most amount of wickets for the month with seven.
