Rebekah Kampe, 43, of Becka’s Bakes is cooking up a viral treat worth the drive

Looking for a sweet treat on the side of the road, 24 hours a day? This southwest Queensland baker has you covered. Here’s how her unique business is making waves across social media.

When you think of a roadside treat, you might think of grabbing a pie in a small town bakery. Now one Warwick woman is turning the concept into a viral empire.

Rebekah Kampe moved to the region three years ago from Brisbane for a tree change, falling in love with the region and its produce.

The baker and farmer’s markets regular has since gone viral on social media for her roadside bakery, which is built around the honour system.

People are reportedly flocking from across southern Queensland to Becka’s Bakes, as its associated TikTok account reaches tens of thousands of views.

“The stand opened at the end of June, I tried to get it open before Jumpers and Jazz and it started posting videos. It started very slowly but a few went viral and people became very supportive,” Ms Kampe said.

The baker has racked up more than 300,000 views since starting in the middle of the year on TikTok.

“It bamboozled me why there’s not more farm stalls in our region. We have so much amazing produce. When I moved here I went around searching for it but it doesn’t really exist,” the baker said.

Ms Kampe said consistency was key in the recipe for success, both with posting on social media and with produce.

“If the stand is empty, people won’t come back because it’s not worth the drive, consistency is what you need,” she said.

The Cunningham resident said she was surprised there wasn’t more stalls in the area.

“I understand it might be a concern these days with people stealing the products and produce, it can be too much of a gamble for growers,” she said.

“But for me, we’re 12 minutes out (west) of town, there’s no people wandering the streets looking for mischief, so we’re able to attract people to come for the drive out of town to the stall.

“I love the creative freedom of new products and baking, flavour combinations, and at the stand it’s not made to order, so I can make whatever I want.”

In recent weeks a woman even made the drive out from Brisbane because she saw the store on social media.

Expansion might even be on the cards.

“Honesty stalls exist all over Queensland, as long as it’s manageable it’ll be all good,” she said.

You can find the stall at 15714 Cunningham Hwy, Queensland or on TikTok.
