A truck carrying livestock rolled off a major regional highway connecting Queensland and NSW, with new information overnight confirming the deaths of all stock on board.
It’s understood the truck, a B-double, was travelling along the Newell Highway, around 5km across the border near Boggabilla, when it left the road and landed on its side at around 1.45pm on July 22.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said two crews attended the scene and went into action with hydraulic cutting gear to help free the cattle still on the trailer.
NSW fireys also attended the scene.
The truck driver, a 28-year-old man was assessed by paramedics but didn’t require treatment.
Initial reports from police suggested only a small number of cattle had died at the scene, with new information from NSW police confirming the 52 cattle on board were injured and required to be euthanised.
A NSW police spokesman said the driver has been issued an infringement notice for negligent driving and not recording required information after starting work.
