Heartfelt tributes flow for Cassie Townsend ahead of funeral
An emotional brother has paid tribute to his loving sister following her unexpected death that sparked a police investigation near Mackay, and ahead of the mother-of-two’s Sunshine Coast funeral.

Family, friends, and the community are preparing to say goodbye to Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Townsend, a beloved and devoted mother, whose funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 28, in Nambour.
Cassie died unexpectedly at her Beaconsfield home earlier this month.
She was found at her home by family members in the afternoon on January 8 sparking a police investigation.
A close family member later said her death was caused by a heart condition that was unknown to her or her loved ones.
The service will take place at 1pm at Gregson and Weight Funerals in Nambour, with the family extending an open invitation to all who loved Cassie to attend.
Cassie, a mother of two, is being remembered for her warmth, kindness and bubbly personality.
The 37-year-old was described as someone whose positivity and selflessness left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Her brother Brayden Townsend shared a heartfelt tribute, expressing the deep love and admiration he and his family held for Cassie.
“Cassie was truly one of a kind. Her warmth, kindness, and selflessness touched everyone she met,” Mr Townsend said.
“She made no apologies for being who she was which was something I think we all looked up to her for.
“Above all, she was a devoted and loving mother for her two beautiful children that she loved more than anything else in this world.”
The shock of her death has left friends and family reeling, with many turning to social media to express their grief and share memories.
Cassie’s friend, Charmaine Cameron, expressed her sorrow, describing her as a “beautiful person” who will be “sorely missed”.
Another friend, Karen Rodgers, described the news as “hard to come to terms with”.
“Way too soon Cassie … you made a difference to those you touched,” Ms Rodgers wrote.
The family has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support and invites everyone who knew Cassie to join them in celebrating her life.
