A teenage girl has died after a car hit a tree in the South Burnett.

A 16-year-old girl has died after a car struck a tree in the South Burnett.

The crash happened in Hodgleigh, between Kingaroy and Nanango, on Tuesday night and was called in by a member of the public.

About 6.53pm, emergency services were called to Lucas Road, off the D’Aguilar Highway, following reports a Daihatsu Applause had rolled over.

When crews arrived at the location, they found the car had struck a tree.

The driver and only occupant, a 16-year-old female, had suffered “traumatic injuries” and declared dead at the scene.

Police have confirmed the car was not stolen.

Investigations are ongoing.
