Wyee: Rider found in creek died following single-vehicle crash

A young man has died following a single-vehicle crash in Lake Macquarie on Thursday.

A young man who was found unresponsive in a Lake Macquarie creek died following a single-vehicle crash on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to Gorokan Rd, Wyee, at about 8.45am after reports of an off-road motorbike crash on the bank of Mannering Creek, near a footbridge.

Officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District discovered the rider, believed to be in his 20s, unresponsive in the water.

Despite efforts, the man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have established a crime scene and seized the motorbike for forensic examination.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
