A Sunshine Coast husband and wife hospitality duo has unveiled Maroochydore’s newest wine bar, serving up an authentic Italian experience.

Sunshine Coast chef Bryan Gerlini, who first moved to Sydney from Italy in 2009, and his partner Izabela Ogonek opened the new Italian wine bar, Breeze of Italy, on Monday.

The couple, who lives in Peregian Springs, said they were excited to bring a new Italian experience to the Sunshine Coast.

The venue is on the ground floor of the Rise building at Sixth Ave Maroochydore, serving much-loved Italian wines and cuisine.

Mr Gerlini said the bar had already been well-received by locals and tourists.

The wine bar will aim to have seasonal wine list and menu, to change on a weekly basis.

Mr Gerlini said the bar would provide a rare opportunity to sample wines from Italy along with a wide range of delicacies.

“I am from the Emilia-Romagna region which is renowned for some of the best cuisine in Italy. Through our suppliers in Sydney and Melbourne we’ve been able to access some of Italy’s finest red and white wines as well as bubbles and liquors,” Mr Gerlini said.

“Our suppliers have also been able to source the finest Italian delicacies including prosciutto, salami and other cured meats as well as a variety of cheeses, olives, oils and balsamic vinegar.”

Bryan Gerlini and his partner Izabela Ognonez said the response to the opening of the wine bar and been strong.

Mr Gerlini said the wine bar provided a “cosy atmosphere”, seating just 30 patrons at one time.

“Breeze of Italy is a quaint venue which has been decorated in dark and moody colours similar to the stylish wine bars and cafes you would find across Italy as well as Sydney and Melbourne,” Mr Gerlini said.

“The venue seats up to 30 people inside and out and we want to create a cosy atmosphere where people can come in and enjoy hard to find wines and authentic Italian cuisine and be treated like family as if they were sitting in our living room at home.

“It will mostly be Izabela and I working the floor and we want to create a place where locals and tourists alike can enjoy a taste of Italy right here on the Sunshine Coast.”

Breeze of Italy is open from Monday to Saturday from 4pm and can be booked out for private events.
