A man in his 40s has suffered “significant” chest injuries following a motorcycle crash on Diana’s Bath Rd, Mount Byron, this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 9.10 am after reports that the rider had crashed about 20 metres down an embankment.

Diana’s Bath Rd is a well-known route popular with hikers, mountain bikers, and dirt bikers.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed a rescue helicopter was dispatched to the location.

“The male patient has sustained significant chest injuries,” the spokesperson said.

The Queensland Fire Department also sent two crews to assist with extracting the man from the embankment.

He was later placed on a stretcher and transported by ambulance to a waiting helicopter, before being flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
