QANTAS flight diverted to Alice Springs after passenger experiences medical episode

March 25, 7.30am: A overseas flight destined for Melbourne has been diverted to Alice Springs after a passenger reportedly experienced an in-flight medical episode.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a passenger of Qantas flight QFA46, travelling from Denpasar to Melbourne, experienced a medical episode, forcing the pilots to land the aircraft at Alice Springs Airport about 4.40am.

The passenger was evacuated directly to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.

It is understood NT Police also attended the scene in support of aircrew.

QFA46 remained at the airport for almost three hours before departing for Melbourne shortly after 7.30am.
