Social media has been lit up with reactions following Premier Will Hodgman’s announcement he will step down from the role he has held since 2014.

SOCIAL media has lit up with reactions following Premier Will Hodgman’s announcement he will step down from the role.

Mr Hodgman, who has been in the role since 2014, made the announcement this afternoon.

Commentators have taken to Twitter with their thoughts on the state’s 45th premier.

PREMIER WILL HODGMAN ANNOUNCES HE IS STEPPING DOWN

Former Tasmanian Attorney-General Brian Wightman said: “My very best wishes to

@WillHodgman, Nicky, and the family for the next chapter.”

Some paid tribute to his service while others were not so complimentary.

Hobart barrister Greg Barns wrote:

“The laziest premier in Australia resigns. Lamentable record of zero reform and widening inequality.”

Former Tasmanian Labor MP Paula Wriedt wrote: “It took the resignation of Premier @WillHodgman to finally get me on Twitter. Having shared the House of Assembly chamber with Will for many years I’m sorry to see him leave State politics, but totally appreciate the toll that it takes on family life. Best wishes Will #politas”.
