Person killed in two-car crash on the Huon Highway at Huonville

UPDATED: Emergency crews are rushing to a second serious two-crash just hours after a woman was killed on the Huon Highway at Huonville.

Episode 1 – On The Road: 'It took my breath away'

A SECOND serious two-car crash has occurred within hours of a fatal collision at Huonville.

Police and emergency services at 3.15pm on Saturday were responding to a crash near the intersection of Bridgenorth Rd and Long Plains Rd at Bridgenorth.

It is anticipated that Bridgenorth Rd, between Long Plains Rd and Bridgenorth Recreation Ground, will be closed for some time.

Motorists are asked to avoid the are until further notice.

The second incident comes after a 50-year-old woman died after a two-car crash on the Huon Highway at Huonville, near the entrance to the Waste Transfer Station at about 11.40am.

A 14-year-old female passenger was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The road remains partially blocked between Huonville and Franklin with police conducting traffic control around the scene.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.

On August 13, a 41-year-old Huntingfield father and his two-year-old daughter were killed when their black sedan collided with a bus on Algona Rd at Kingston.
