A woman was left trapped in a van following a crash in southeast Sydney this afternoon.
About 12.30pm on Saturday paramedics raced to Botany Rd, Matraville after reports a van had collided with a power pole.
There, crews treated a 29 year-old woman who was trapped inside the vehicle by the collision before she was freed from the vehicle by local police at 1.45pm.
She was freed a short time later and treated for lower leg injuries before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A 46 year-old man, the driver, was also treated at the scene for minor injuries before being taken to the same hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.
On Saturday evening, Botany Rd remained closed westbound near Bumborah Point Rd due to the smash, with motorists urged to avoid the area. More to come.
