A northern NSW real estate agent who pleaded guilty to sending indecent material to a child on Instagram plans to fight further disturbing allegations of abuse as his trial faces complex delays, a court has heard.
Jacob Glenn Ford, 29, appeared before Judge David Wilson in Lismore District Court for mention on Monday.
He has been charged with using a carriage service to transmit communication with the intention of procuring sexual activity with a person under 16 years of age, using a carriage service to send indecent material to a child under the age of 16, and three counts of intentionally sexually touching a child above the age of 10 and under 16 years.
Ford pleaded guilty to using a carriage service (Instagram) to send indecent material to a child under 16 years of age.
Ford entered a plea of not guilty to three counts of intentionally sexually touching a child between 10 and 16 years of age and using a carriage service to procure a child under 16 years of age for sexual activity.
The court heard the delay in the trial commencement date was over a dispute in relation to evidence.
Defence counsel Paul Cranney told the court Ford has denied any alleged touching was sexual.
Yet the Crown argued allegations of illicit messages Ford allegedly sent to the minor, along with alleged touching, must be viewed in “all the circumstances” and should not be “viewed on their own”.
Ford was initially scheduled for trial in early November but that date has been shifted to December 3.
Ford’s trial is expected to last seven days in Lismore District Court.
