A man has faced court after allegedly attempting to kill a 17-month old girl in a horror northern NSW crash on a remote back road. Here’s the latest.

A man has faced court after allegedly attempting to kill a 17-month old girl in a horror northern NSW crash on a remote back road.

The 23-year-old man allegedly crashed the vehicle carrying the toddler into a pole on Avenue Rd in West Bungawalbin, west of Woodburn on Thursday July 10.

Emergency services treated the driver and the child at the scene for minor injuries before they were both taken to Lismore Hospital for treatment.

The man was arrested after being released from hospital on Sunday and charged by officers investigating Strike Force Haynes at Lismore police station.

He was charged with attempt to murder by means other than in ss27-29, two counts of contravening an apprehended violence order, stalking and intimidation, and causing bodily harm by wilful neglect in charge of a motor vehicle.

The accused was refused bail when he appeared in the bail court on Monday.

No pleas have been entered and he returns to court on September 8.
