Erin Molan quits Nine to join Sky News and The Daily Telegraph

Popular Australian broadcaster and journalist Erin Molan has quit the Nine Network and revealed her next media move.

Popular Australian broadcaster and journalist Erin Molan has quit Nine to join Sky News as a prime time contributor and to write a regular column for The Daily Telegraph.

The Daily Telegraph editor Ben English said: “I am absolutely thrilled that Erin is joining our stellar team of agenda setting columnists at The Daily Telegraph.”

Molan was due to read the sports bulletin on Nine on Friday and Saturday night but it was agreed that she would not do so once news of her resignation began to circulate.

During her time at Nine she co-hosted several award-winning programs including The Sunday NRL Footy Show, The Footy Show and anchored the sport on Channel 9 News. In her new roles she will widen her scope to embrace the issues affecting all Australians.

“Erin is dialled in to the issues that matter to our readers and her sharp and provocative insights will no doubt get all of Sydney and NSW talking,” Mr English said.

She has also been appointed Sky News Primetime Contributor and will play a key role across a wide range of programming from January.

Paul Whittaker, chief executive officer of Sky News Australia said: “We are delighted to welcome Erin to Sky News.

“Erin is a highly respected broadcaster and journalist who fiercely advocates on issues of national importance. Her insights will add new context for our discussion and opinion programs.”

One of her first roles will be to host a new documentary focusing on online safety. It is an issue she has passionately advocated for which resulted in new legislation being passed this year.

She is the daughter of Australian senator Jim Molan and has openly spoken about her political aspirations in the future.

The move comes after Molan revealed the strains of working as a single mum after splitting with homicide Detective Sean Ogilvy, the father of her three year old daughter.

She will continue to co-host on 2DAY FM’s The Morning Crew with co hosts Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee.
