Specialist police are combing the scene where a man was found dead near a large hydroponic cannabis set up near Lismore.
Emergency services were called to a home on James Street, Dunoon, at about 9am on Friday after a man was found unresponsive. The 37-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.
Richmond Police District officers set up a crime scene and are looking into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
While at the property, police uncovered a significant amount of hydroponic cannabis and psilocybin, or magic mushrooms.
They also seized equipment used for growing and making drugs, along with ammunition and cash.
“Given the size and potential dangers of the drug operation, specialist police were brought in to handle the scene,” police said in a statement.
A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
The investigation is ongoing.
