Big Brother contestant Christina Podolyan said her TV romance was kept under control - mostly due to her mum.

Big Brother reality starlet Christina Podolyan says her mother would have killed her had she taken her reality TV romance any further than a kiss.

Confidential could imagine producers rubbing their hands with glee as romance blossomed between Podolyan and model-looking chef Brenton Balicki, the pair set to share a much hyped kiss in the Big Brother house tonight after a week of flirtations.

“My mum would bash me. I’ve got a Russian mum so I wouldn’t be here to tell the story if something more had happened,” Podolyan told Confidential.

Balicki last week entered the Big Brother compound as an intruder, a month after Podolyan entered as an original housemate.

Sparks immediately flew, providing some welcome buzz for producers to promote.

The show was shot several months ago with the couple now back in their respective cities – Podolyan in Melbourne and Balicki in Sydney.

So what exactly is the status of their relationship today?

“It’s tricky,” the Jetstar flight attendant said. “At the moment we are both friends but I think we are both speculative as to what may happen. It would be very different if we were in the same state because he is a beautiful, gorgeous guy and we bonded so well in the house. Who knows what will happen.”

Balicki also used the word speculative when describing their relationship.

“I would say that Christina and I have agreed to see how things go and just be transparent with each other. If someone else comes into our lives, then that would be a discussion we would have.”

As to their television kiss, Balicki added: “Christina and I are both very respectful people and private people. There’s only so far I can go with 400 cameras watching everything and I didn’t want to be the guy on TV that gets told to stop what he’s doing.”

Podolyan, who indicated she would consider moving to Sydney, interestingly said Balicki wouldn’t usually be her type.

“It is not what I go for in the outside world,” he said. “I usually go for a ‘dad bod’ but with him, I think it is he is so kind and he is so selfless. He is so caring and nurturing. That is what drew me to him.”
