NT Police have provided an update on the investigation into the death of a man whose body was found east of Alice Springs.

Latest - January 14, 10am: NT Police have released a statement on Tuesday about the discover of a man’s body east of Alice Springs on Saturday afternoon.
In the statement released on Tuesday morning, police said they were now treating the death as “non-suspicious”.
On Monday, Acting Assistant Commissioner Peter Malley suggested the death may have been “drug related” based off police’s previous interactions with the man and reports from witnesses.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Updated - January 13, 12pm: NT Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body on a track near Undoolya Road, east of Alice Springs on Saturday afternoon.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Peter Malley on Monday said police were treating the death as “suspicious”, yet doubted it was a homicide.
Commissioner Malley said police believe the death was “drug related”, but those suspicions would be confirmed in an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday.
“Witnesses reported seeing the man naked, behaving erratically,” Commissioner Malley said.
Initial - January 12, 10.30am: NT Police confirmed they are investigating after a body was found east of Alice Springs on Saturday afternoon.
In a statement released late on Saturday evening, police said they responded to reports of a man’s body found on a track near Undooyla Rd about 4.05pm.
The man is yet to be identified and the cause of death is yet unknown.
Southern Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Andrew Dunne spoke to this masthead on Sunday morning and said the death was being handled by the crime squad.
The crime scene remains open, he said.
NT Police have urged anyone with information to call 131 444.
