The Top End is well on the way to ‘deeper dry season conditions’ as residents continue to enjoy a run of cool night-time temperatures, according to BOM NT.

THE Top End is well on the way to “deeper dry season conditions” as residents continue to enjoy a run of cool night-time temperatures.
Bureau of Meteorology NT (BOM NT) data shows Darwin recorded its coldest night so far this year on Sunday, May 16, when the mercury dropped to 18.7C, and minimum temperatures have been hovering around the low 20s since.
Night-time temperatures are also cooling in Katherine and Nhulunbuy.
BOM NT senior forecaster Sally Cutter said Darwin’s minimum temperatures this month were tracking close to the May average of 22C, in a welcome change from the Wet.

“For long-term Territorians who’ve come out of the Wet, it does feel reasonably cool,” she said.
“We’re heading towards deeper dry season conditions.”
Rapid Creek resident Paula Reichstein said her daughter Charlotte, 6, was embracing the Dry.
“She likes the dry season because she likes wearing winter clothes,” Ms Reichstein.
“The kids have been wearing jumpers to school most mornings, but they usually come off by lunch time.”
