A young woman is fighting for her life and a community has been torn apart following an alleged domestic violence stabbing in a remote Territory community.

A young woman is fighting for her life after allegedly being repeatedly stabbed by her partner in her own home in a remote Territory community.
The NT Police said a 20-year-old woman was flown to the Royal Darwin Hospital in an emergency evacuation from Beswick, 112 km east of Katherine, after suffering stab wounds to her abdomen, back and legs.
It is alleged that her 29-year-old partner assaulted her multiple times with an edged weapon, before driving her to the local clinic for medical assistance.
A triple-0 call was made at 9.10pm, Saturday, with CareFlight called in to stabilise and fly her to Royal Darwin Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
Police arrested a 29-year-old man, and he remains in custody while the investigations is ongoing.
No changes have been laid.
However in the emotional wake of the alleged stabbing, members of both families allegedly started creating a disturbance outside the health clinic.
A police spokesman said Katherine and Mataranka cops were deployed “to manage the unrest”.
