A light aircraft crash landed at Darwin Airport on Wednesday at 12.30pm, sparking an emergency services response.

St John NT reported there were no injuries when the Cessna 310R aircraft crash landed on the tarmac.

Publicly available flight data shows the plane had just travelled from Wurrumiyanga on the Tiwi Islands.

It is understood there were no passengers on-board, other than the pilot.

Meanwhile, at least four other flights were delayed in taking off as the plane was removed from the main runway.

Vision posted on TikTok by Harmonyfb showed the plane on the tarmac with emergency crews in attendance.

In the clip the captain of the waiting plane can be heard saying the plane’s gear had collapsed and was now blocking the runway.

Multiple aircraft were waiting along the runway to take off but were at the mercy of air traffic control as the wreckage was moved.

An official from CASA, the nation’s aviation regulator, confirmed the details of the crash landing to this masthead.

“The pilot of a Cessna 310R advised of unsafe landing gear,” a CASA spokesperson said.

“The airport emergency services were put on standby.

“As the aircraft landed, the left landing gear collapsed and the left wing truck the runway.

“The aircraft partially left the runway as a result.

A representative of the centre declined to comment on the incident.

“Due to the ongoing investigation into the incident and will not be able to provide any information until a full investigation has been completed,” the spokesman said.

The Australian Transport Safety Board told this masthead an incident had been reported and the body was still gathering information.
