Teens reveal what they won’t be telling their parents about Schoolies

Aussie teens have lifted the lid on what really goes on at Schoolies – and the things they plan on doing that they won’t be telling their parents about.

Week one of Schoolies is well and truly underway on the Gold Coast and Aussie teens have revealed how they are really celebrating the end of school.

It is no secret that Schoolies on the Gold Coast is basically a week straight of drinking, beach parties, 4am kebabs and going to Dreamworld violently hungover.

However, it appears some school leavers have plans for some even more questionable behaviour.

The Urban World Gold Coast TikTok account has asked Schoolies what they will be doing during the week that they won’t be telling their parents about – with the question resulting in some pretty wild answers.

The general consensus from the interviewees seemed to be that – while their parents knew they would be drinking – they wouldn’t be letting on just how much alcohol they consumed over the week.

“Just go on a bender,” one girl said.

“Drinking a sh*t tonne,” another added.

One group of young men revealed they planned on getting up to a “bit of tomfoolery” and they didn’t think they would be telling their parents “much”.

“What happens at schoolies, stays at schoolies,” another added, to cheers from his mates.

One young woman revealed she planned to “drink through the pain” after going through a break up.

But it wasn’t just guzzling Hard Solo and overpriced shots that some Schoolies had in mind. There were those that planned on taking things a step further.

“Drugs,” one young woman said into the microphone as soon as the question was asked.

“Probably going to be all drugs and sex,” her friend agreed.

“Taking drugs,” another interviewee said matter-of-factly.

This was the most popular answer for about half of the school leavers interviewed, with multiple youngers divulging their plans to track down some illicit substances.

Other school leavers revealed they planned on getting tattoos that they wouldn’t tell their parents about, while others claimed there was nothing they were going to hide about the week of partying.

“I don’t know, I tell my mum everything,” one teen said.

“Yeah, I tell my mum everything,” her friend agreed.

When another friend in the group was asked what she wouldn’t be telling her parents, she simply replied, “I’m Catholic”.

Earlier this week, this year’s Schoolies were praised by the Queensland Police for their behaviour so far.

They announced that just 10 school leavers had been arrested so far, a major drop from the 40 arrests made at the same time in the week last year.

Gold Coast Police Superintendent, Peter Miles, said officers had been “exceptionally impressed” with their year’s cohort of Schoolies, noting the low number of arrests and “mostly only minor offences detected”.

“Police work really closely with our partner agencies including Gold Coast City Council, Safer Schoolies and a range of support agencies to ensure Schoolies are kept safe,” he said.

“I encourage all schoolies to continue celebrating safely and look out for each other for the remainder of the event.”
