Young Territorians are being encouraged to speak up, advocate and share their stories at this year’s NT Youth Week 2025, with Youth Minister Jinson Charls declaring the “positive contributions” of the Territory’s young must be celebrated.
On Saturday, the NT Government announced the 25th NT Youth Week, donning the theme ‘Lift Up Your Voice’, would take place in April.
Aimed at platforming the ideas, views and concerns of people between 12 to 25 years-old, the event’s program and activities will be created and led by seven Youth Week ambassadors.
The 2025 ambassadors are:
– Ms Amina Salha, 22, Darwin;
– Mr Pak Chan, 16, Darwin;
– Mr Jason Ramsamy, 18, Darwin;
-Mr Oliver Wurst, 16, Darwin;
– Ms Elizabeth Roy, 21, Palmerston and rural;
– Ms Evannah Stark, 18, East Arnhem;
– Mr Jadewyn Nelson, 20, Central Australia.
The event’s potential certainly excited Mr Chan, who said he looked forward to connecting with other young Territorians.
“There are so many amazing young people with a vision for the future, and I’m committed to making sure their voices are part of decision-making processes,” he said.
Mr Charls congratulated the event’s ambassadors, describing them as “role models”.
“We must continue to celebrate and support the positive contributions of our youth,“ he said.
“Activities during Youth Week provide young people across the Territory the opportunity to engage with each other and community groups in safe, accessible environments and take part in personal development initiatives.”
NT Youth Week 2025 will run from Friday, April 4, to Wednesday, April 16.
The event’s calendar of events will be available in late March.
