The Mercury reveals the full list of the firearm related incidents in the North and North West of the state so far for 2021.
Since the start of the year there has been 28 firearm related incidents in the North and 11 in the North West.
In March there were four firearm related incidents in the North and another nine in April, majority in the Launceston area.
Six occurred within a four day period, two of those on the same day.
A firearms taskforce was established by Tasmania police in Launceston in April as police attempted to crackdown on illegal firearms.
As of July 26, the taskforce had conducted 62 searches, seized ammunition and 60 firearms.
60 people have been charged with 266 offences.
In June the taskforce seized 21 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition at two properties in Longford.
At mobile firearms amnesties held in North and North-West Tasmania in May, 75 firearms and
a significant quantity of ammunition was surrendered to police.
Police say the vast majority of the firearm incidents involve people who are known to both police and one another.
A St Leonards shop owner has held up at gunpoint on June 5.
On June 15 two young people were allegedly threatened with a gun during a carjacking in West Launceston.
Further charges were also laid on August 9 in relation to a shooting at Norwood on Saturday July 24 where shots were fired into a home on Boiton Hill Road.
A 27-year-old man from Waverley and a 40-year-old Mayfield man have been charged with aggravated assault and two counts of recklessly discharging a firearm, bringing the total number of offenders involved in the incident to four.
In the most recent incident, investigations are underway after a shot gun was fired into an East Devonport unit on July 29.
Police say overall there has been a state wide decrease in firearm related incidents, with 195 between 1 July 2020 and 30 May 2021, compared to 243 for the same period the previous year.
