Police have taken down an alleged armed offender minutes after a Gold Coast bottle shop was robbed at knifepoint.

Police were called to the Arundel business on Tuesday just after it was allegedly robbed.

“Around 11.45am (a) man entered an alcohol store on Napper Road armed with a knife and took a bottle of alcohol,” a Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman alleged.

“The man left the scene on foot.”

Upon arrival, police located a male not far from the scene and he was taken into custody.

It’s alleged the same male was involved in another armed robbery in the suburb the previous night.

Officers were called to Ingles Court about 8pm on Monday after a 19-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man carrying a knife.

The alleged offender stole the woman’s phone before running off.

A 22-year-old Arundel man has been charged with two counts of robbery armed/in company/wounded/used personal violence.

He’s due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

No one was physically injured during the alleged incidents.
