Firefighters have battled to contain a large blaze which engulfed a ute on the Gold Coast M1 and brought peak-hour traffic to a crawl.
Emergency services were called to the inferno on the Pacific Motorway southbound just after the Hope Island Rd off-ramp (exit 57) at about 8.50am on Wednesday just after the flames took hold.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said two crews were worked to extinguish the fire and there was no one inside the vehicle when firefighters arrived on scene.
There are no reports of any injuries.
The large plume of black smoke from the blaze could be seen from several kilometres away.
Peak-hour traffic on the motorway was brought to a crawl with about 7km of heavy delays southbound from Helensvale back to Pimpama.
The ute was completely destroyed by the fire.
