Groundwater Country Music Festival has been declared a major success, with officials predicting an $11 million economic boost from the event and an international act telling fans it was “unbelievable”.

Broadbeach was transformed over the weekend with live music, beachside line dancing, markets and more taking over Kurrawa Park for the festival.

Tens of thousands of country music fans kicked up their boots, enjoying the stacked line-up.

Acclaimed Canadian artist Tim Hicks, who played on Saturday night, said the festival was “unbelievable”.

“I never thought I’d ever get to do the music I do outside of the borders of Canada... whenever we get to do these sorts of things its super special,” he said.

“Country music fans are the best fans in the world, doesn’t matter whether they’re from Canada, the US, Australia, or England.

“There’s a common thread in that they have a love for really great music.”

Festival Director Mark Duckworth said this year’s line-up lived up to its promise of delivering a special experience.

“I don’t think you could have been in Broadbeach over the past three days and not fallen in love with country music,” he said.

“The energy of country music really took over the Gold Coast, showcasing an incredible and diverse line-up of homegrown and international artists.”

Experience Gold Coast CEO John Warn said the event continues to get better every year.

“Every year this unique country festival beside the beach gets better giving the tens of thousands of fans that turn out each of the three days an unforgettable live country music experience,” he said.

“The Gold Coast has such a vibrant and diverse calendar of annual events and Groundwater Country Music Festival has been a staple on that calendar for the past 11 years.

“That’s great news for local businesses with the festival expected to generate more than $11 million for the Gold Coast economy this year.”

The 2024 line-up featured 55 artists performing across 12 stages and venues in Broadbeach, Groundwater Country Music Festival returns from 17 to 19 October 2025.
