A Geelong woman has made a desperate plea for clothing donations after members of her family lost “everything” in a house fire that killed two dogs and two cats.
The four pets were found dead inside a burning Corio home on Saturday after a fire tore through the property.
Emergency services rushed to Kilpatrick Ct at about 2.10am after a distressed caller reported a house licking with flames.
Firefighters battled the blaze for about 10 minutes before it was brought under control.
One dog was saved but two others, along with two cats, were killed.
“All occupants were able to get out and sadly the pets died at the scene,” a Victoria Police spokesman said.
It’s understood the owner of the animals was treated by paramedics but escaped serious injury.
A close friend of the home occupants made a social media plea for donations on Saturday afternoon.
“Hey Geelong community members, as some of you will know family members of ours lost their house in a fire in the early morning hours and they have lost everything, including four beloved fur babies,” Jodie Goudge wrote on Facebook.
“(At the moment) they are in emergency hospital and I have their permission to get some donations for them.
“I have storage organised (and) could possibly collect on Tuesday when I have more fuel.”
Ms Goudge requested size 16-26 clothing items for two women aged in their 50s and 60s.
The fire spread through the front of the house with charred timber visible from the roof.
Furniture from inside the property was scattered across the front lawn on Saturday morning.
Power and gas companies were also called to scene.
Investigators are not treating the fire as suspicious and the pet that survived was handed back to its owner.
In the same suburb in 2021, a pair of beloved dogs also perished in a fiery blaze.
Heartbroken mother and son, Daniel and Raylene Benson, were left homeless after their unit was destroyed on Snowy Ct.
Their dogs, Dior and Lilly, could not be saved.
