A teenage girl has been arrested after a suspicious blaze at a Corio home on Sunday night.

Emergency services were called to a unit in Ontario Ave about 7pm.

A Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) spokeswoman said the property was “well alight” when crews arrived at the scene.

It is understood the blaze engulfed half of the unit and spread into the roof.

“The cause of the fire was deemed suspicious,” the FRV spokeswoman said.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said a 17-year-old girl is expected to be charged by Geelong detectives with criminal damage by fire and threats to destroy property.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Earlier this month, a mother and her two-year-old child escaped unharmed after a blaze at their Norlane home.

The property was left severely damaged.
