The search for a missing Yarraville man came to tragic end on Sunday, with police finding a body.

The body, believed to be that of 45-year-old Simon, was found after an extensive search in Bellbrae, Torquay and Anglesea.

Victoria Police spokesman John McLaughlan said: “Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of man followinga search in Bellbrae on November 16.

“The deceased, who is yet to be formally identified, is believed to be missing man Simon.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”

Police are broadening their search for a missing Yarraville man to Torquay and Anglesea as officers continue to scour the coast.

The air wing was first called in to help police search Bellbrae for missing 45-year-old man Simon on Saturday afternoon.

Victoria Police Sergeant Melissa Seach said 45-year-old Simon left his Regent St home to go to work about 5.30am Friday and had not been seen since.

Police found a silver Toyota Camry, that they believe Simon was driving, in a carpark at the intersection of Hurst Rd and Great Ocean Road, Bellbrae on Saturday morning.

“Police and family have concerns for Simon’s welfare due to a medical condition,” Ms Seach said.

Investigators have released images of Simon in the hope someone recognises him and can provide information.

As of Saturday afternoon, local police were being assisted in their search for Simon by the air wing and State Emergency Service workers.

By Sunday, the search had expanded to Torquay and Anglesea, with the dog squad also assisting police.

Simon is described as caucasian in appearance, bald, with facial hair and a small blue tattoo on his left wrist.

He was last seen wearing a business shirt, suit pants and glasses.
