Plans to build five double storey units on a Norlane block has been lodged with Geelong council.

A run-down house in Norlane could be demolished to make way for new units if plans are given the tick of approval.

Plans lodged to Geelong council reveal five units could be built at 126 Princes Hwy, with documents stating the proposal would “contribute to housing diversity and affordability” in the region.

The 930sq metre site is close to Barwon Health North and the Northern Aquatic and Community Hub, which is currently undergoing a $64m makeover.

Each unit will range from 127-170sq metre and have a maximum height of 7.38m.

Unit one will have an open plan kitchen and living area on the ground floor, with three bedrooms and two parking spaces.

Units two to five will be built in reverse with their open plan kitchen and living areas located on the ground floor, each with two bedrooms and a single parking space.

Each unit will also have its own private outdoor space and balcony.

All five dwellings will include a laundry and a toilet room on the ground floor.

The proposal was estimated to cost $1m.

The plans are currently on public exhibition with a decision not expected to be made until September 28.
